My Eyelash Extensions Journey

I started getting lash extensions a year ago, and needless to say, it was life-changing. I woke up every morning with completely full lashes, and because my lashes are so straight and thin, they were lashes that I could never achieve with mascara. After getting them for a year, I have decided to talk about the pros and cons of getting eyelash extensions.
The pros are pretty obvious. Eyelash extensions completely changed how my face looked because I had nonexistent eyelashes to begin with. My eyes looked more symmetrical. The day-to-day upkeep was limited. It is recommended that you clean your lashes every couple of days, but I didn't do that. I did brush them everyday though.
However, the costs of eyelash extensions are so high. In Massachusetts, a new set (a 1:1 classic set) is about 100 dollars. Refills are around 60 dollars. I had to come back every 3 weeks, which can be difficult if you work. I found that most lash places closed around 6-7 PM, which is when most people arrive home from work. It seemed like lash extensions were not meant for working women but for stay-at-home mom's. Though lash technicians say that extensions should not damage your lashes, I feel like they do to some extent even when you take care of them well. When an extension fell out, most often I would find one of my natural lashes attached to that extension.
After a year of getting extensions, I ultimately decided to stop getting them. I think I would have continued if I had not developed an allergic reaction to the glue. I don't know why all of a sudden I developed an allergic reaction, but basically, the glue makes my eyes swollen for a couple of days before dying down. I think I could still get lash extensions if I wanted. I would just have to brace through the first couple of days before I enjoy two weeks of beautiful lashes. I might get lash extensions when I have a special event coming up, but otherwise, I think I am done for now.
I am currently looking for a good eyelash growth serum that will hopefully thicken and lengthen my damaged lashes. Then, I plan to get a lash perm. My hope is that the resulting eyelashes with mascara will look close to a classic eyelash extension set.
