Marc Jacobs Beauty: Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss Review

During Black Friday weekend, I was able to pick up a couple make-up products at Sephora--one of which being the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Rebel Rebel. I have never been a lipgloss girl, but I think Rihanna revived the trend after her release of her Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer. Moreover, I was looking for a lip product that was opaque as well as moisturizing. Unfortunately, the cold weather has been harsh on my lips.

After wearing the Marc Jacobs lip gloss today, I am completely obsessed with the product! The color looks amazing on me; I have a light and warm complexion. The color is described as a blue-raspberry shimmer on the Sephora website. However, the color does not come across as cold at all. When I first looked at the color, I thought it was a warm brown-mauve color infused with violent/iridescent shimmer. The color is actually how I imagined the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer would be. Thinking about how I swatched the Fenty Beauty lip gloss in the Sephora store, I actually think that the Marc Jacobs lip gloss is more pigmented than the Fenty Beauty lip gloss.

The Marc Jacobs lip gloss is not as pigmented as a lipstick. When I put it on, the lip gloss enhances my lips to a "my lips but better" color. The iridescent shimmer is not noticeable on my lips. It is very natural and flattering. I think I am going to make this a part of my daily routine. I think it is also important to note that my skin color is quite light (NC20), so color more easily shows up on me. My indian roommate tested the lip gloss, and the lip gloss basically showed up clear on her lips.

Another aspect worth mentioning is the packaging. The tube is sleek and elegant--rightfully so for a $28 lip gloss. As opposed to the regular doe foot applicator, the lip gloss applicator has a flatter and more flexible sponge. I think the sponge's flexibility eases the application process. Unfortunately, the flexibility makes the wand difficult to put back into the tube, since the opening is also small and contains a stopper. The sponge wiggles back and forth in the opening before actually entering the tube, which is annoying. I think I would rather have a harder sponge than a flexible one. The application process for lip gloss is easy anyways.

The formula is comfortable and slick--not very sticky at all. As advertised, the gloss is very shiny. The minty scent does not bother me at all. My common problem with lip glosses is feeling bothered by the smell. An unexpected pro to the lip gloss is its ability to make my lips look bigger. Another pro is that this lip gloss moisturizes my lips like no other chapstick!!

Since Black Friday weekend, I have ordered another tube of this lip gloss! This lip gloss has become my staple, and I highly reccommend!!
