As mentioned in a prior post, I got a lash lift about a month or two ago. Though I was happy with the results, I realized that I wanted a more dramatic result even with mascara on top of my lash lift. So, when I found out that my aunt knew how to apply lash extensions, I was so excited!

I laid on her bed, as she placed a beaming light above me. She taped my bottom eyelashes down, so that the glue would not accidentally attach my upper and bottom lashes together. Then, she proceeded to dip the individual lashes into the glue and place them onto my real lashes. I wanted a more classic look, so I asked for singles instead of the clusters that she offered. I also chose singles over clusters because I knew that the clusters would be heavier and place more strain on my eyelashes. Eyelashes tend to fall out once they reach the end of their cycle, and I was scared that the clusters would cause my lashes to fall out prematurely.

For most of the lashes, she placed one single lash onto a real lash. However, to create a fuller look, for some of my real lashes, she placed two single lashes onto a real lash. The lash singles were also a mixture of lengths (10 mm, 11 mm, and 12 mm), mimicking the variation of lengths within actual lashes.

The process took approximately two hours. I thought that the process would be relaxing like the lash lift procedure, since I would just be closing my eyes. However, my back ended up feeling uncomfortable from laying down so much. Considering she offered to apply lash extensions for free, uncomfortableness was not a concern for me.

Once she was done applying the lash extensions, she removed the tape surrounding my eye. I consider the tape removal as the hardest part because removing the tape pulled my skin. Moreover, in the process of doing so, she found out that one of my upper lashes was stuck to a bottom one. Fixing that hurt a little bit. Moreover, there were specks of glue on my face that I had to remove. The glue is really hard to wipe off.

Despite the complications, my lashes turned out beautiful. At first, I was a bit hesitant about the lash extensions because I was scared that the difference was too dramatic. However, after taking a couple photos and getting used to my new-found length/volume, I ended up loving them so much! I understand why lash extensions are so addicting now.

She told me that this set would have costed approximately 100 dollars in the salon. The clusters would have costed around 40 dollars because they are quicker to apply. My lash extensions will last 2-3 weeks before I need a refill to replenish my length and volume. Furthermore, I need to keep my eyes away from moisture for the first 24 hours of receiving these lash extensions. Below are "after" pictures of my lashes. Unfortunately, I forgot to take "before" photos. :(
